Owen Inquiry into Electricity Supply in NSW

Through the Owen Inquiry, the NSW Government is investigating the need to develop new base load electricity generation plants. The Inquiry is also looking at the conditions most appropriate in order to attract investment in infrastructure development.PIAC’s submission concentrated on:how effective current demand management and energy efficiency policies are;reminding the Government that investor interests do not necessarily align with consumer, who ultimately pay for investments; andthat this Inquiry should not consider the question of removing retail price regulations, nor whether the Government should privatise the retail sector of the NSW energy industry
