In a major test case, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre has filed Supreme Court proceedings against the state of NSW for Megan and a second mother, Joanne*, alleging it was unlawful for police to enter their homes to check their teen sons’ compliance with bail conditions without a court order.
PIAC says this amounts to a trespass and is seeking damages for both women.
