Grace Gooley

Grace joined PIAC’s Strategic Litigation team as a solicitor in 2021.

Grace works to improve police accountability and conditions for people in detention. She acts for clients in civil claims against NSW Police and the Department of Communities and Justice in order to achieve systemic outcomes.

Before joining PIAC, Grace was a lawyer in the Class Actions team at a commercial law firm. In this role, she investigated and instructed on large scale litigation against multi-national corporations and government departments. 

Prior to this, Grace worked in migration and refugee law, advocating for asylum seekers who were applying protection visas both domestically and offshore on Manus Island. As a legal intern, Grace assisted the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency in its response to the Norther Territory Royal Commission into Child Protection and Youth Detention.
