Network Asset Write-downs: the case for and against

PIAC’s Energy + Water Consumer Advocacy Program (EWCAP) will tomorrow present at an Australian Institute of Energy breakfast. The event will consider whether electricity and gas networks should be required to write down the value of their assets if they are under-utilised.

Bruce Mountain will present the results of his recent report ‘Privatisation and the regulatory valuation of electricity distribution network service providers in New South Wales: Evidence and issues’. (Report prepared for PIAC.)

Garth Crawford will present the results of his August 2014 research paper, ‘Written Down Value? Assessing proposals for electricity network write-downs’, for the Energy Networks Association (ENA).

Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Bill Nixey, Lead Consultant, IES Advisory.
