Pensioner and advocacy groups in New South Wales are warning that their constituents will struggle to cope when electricity prices go up at the start of July.
The state’s Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal has announced there’ll be an average increase in electricity bills of 18 per cent.
That means some people’s power bills will rise by several hundred dollars a year, and welfare groups say that low income households will struggle to pay that.
