Senior Policy Officer, Energy and Water Consumers’ Advocacy Program

Thea Bray

Thea has been a Policy Officer for PIAC’s Energy and Water Consumers’ Advocacy Program (EWCAP) since April 2017. Her focus is on people experiencing vulnerability.

Thea has over a decade of experience working in policy, campaigns, and household energy and water reduction project design and implementation.

Before coming to PIAC, she spent four years as a Project Manager at Low Energy Supplies and Services. In this role she designed and implemented energy and water saving projects for governments and energy and water providers in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. Most of these projects focussed on households with low incomes and other vulnerabilities.

Previous to that, she spent three years as the Coolmob Project Manager at the Environment Centre of the Northern Territory. This position included developing climate policy, designing and implementing community engagement projects to help households and schools reduce their contribution to climate change, as well as campaigning to the Northern Territory and federal governments on climate and other sustainability issues.

Thea also worked as a Campaign Officer working to improve the rights of injured people at the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association for 2 years.

Thea has a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) from the University of Sydney, majoring in political economy and government. Her studies included an internship with the Standing Committee on Social Issues at NSW Parliament.
