PIAC made a submission to the Australian Energy Market Commission Reliability Panel’s draft report in the Review of the reliability standard and Administered Price Cap.
PIAC supports the Reliability Panel’s recommendations that no change is needed to the form of either the standard or the cap, both are for for purpose to manage the changes anticipated in the energy system in the coming years.
It is important both that the form and use of the standard do not over-inflate consumers’ aversion to power outages as this would result in consumers paying more for reliability than they would choose to.
