If you thought surging household energy bills were a thing of the past, think again.
From July 1, the regulated price of gas will rise by a 17 per cent. This is largely due to hikes in wholesale gas prices as a host of export projects in Queensland prepare to start up, pushing local prices towards international levels.
For some families, the question now is whether it still makes sense to use gas for heating and cooking.
