Inquiry into the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2009 (Cth) Alternative formats available on request to PIAC - Contact PIAC
Same sex marriage was prohibited for the first time under the last government in a discriminatory and unjustifiable change to the Marriage Act 1961 (Cth). PIAC supports Greens Senator Hanson-Young’s private member’s bill, the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2009. Passage of the bill would recognise and protect the right of same-sex couples to marry.
