Anna Dawson

Senior Solicitor, Indigenous Justice Program

Anna joined PIAC in 2016 as a Senior Solicitor in the strategic litigation team. She leads the Indigenous Justice Program at PIAC which advocates for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including in the areas of police accountability and rights in detention and child protection (a project in partnership with the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT).
 
Anna previously worked as a senior solicitor in the civil team at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) for four and half years where she worked on behalf of clients in the areas of police accountability, child protection, discrimination and coronial inquests. Prior to NAAJA, Anna worked as a lawyer at Clayton Utz and a policy officer in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Unit at the Australian Human Rights Commission.
 
Anna has an arts degree from the University of Sydney and a law degree (first class honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
