Free legal advice for Woolloomooloo homeless

The Homeless Persons’ Legal Service*
(HPLS) is offering free legal advice at Woolloomooloo.

The legal service will be available at the Woolloomooloo
Integrated Services Hub (WISH), a one-stop-shop that provides services to
people who are homeless.

The City of Sydney Council co-ordinates
WISH each month at the Mary McDonald Centre in Tom Uren Square, on the
corner of Bourke and Cathedral Streets, Woolloomooloo. WISH starts at 9.30am and a barbecue lunch is provided.

Approximately 13 services come together for
the Woolloomooloo initiative. These include :

  • Housing NSW
  • Centrelink
  • Medicare
  • Homeless Persons Legal Service (HPLS)
  • Commonwealth Ombudsman
  • Homeless Persons Information Centre
  • Max Employment
  • Mission Australia
  • St Vincent’s Hospital
  • TAFE
  • Way2Home
  • The Big Issue

HPLS is grateful to the law firm
Corrs Chambers Westgarth, which will provide volunteer staff for the HPLS WISH clinic.

Upcoming
dates for WISH in 2012 are 10 February, 16 March, and 20 April.

Information about other HPLS Legal Clinics in Sydney is available on the PIAC website.

* The Homeless Persons’ Legal
Service (HPLS) is a joint initiative of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre and
the Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) NSW. PIAC receives funding from
the NSW Public Purpose Fund to operate HPLS.
