About the speakers
Andrea Durbach
Andrea Durbach is a Professor of Law at UNSW and a leading human rights practitioner. Previously the Director of the Australian Human Rights Centre (now Institute), Andrea’s previous roles include Executive Director of PIAC (1991-2004), part-time member of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal (Legal Services Division) and part-time commissioner of the NSW Law Reform Commission. A Foundation Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law, in 2013 Andrea was awarded the Australian Human Rights Commission Human Rights Law Award for her promotion and advancement of human rights in Australia through the practice of law.
Isabelle Reinecke
Isabelle Reinecke is the Executive Director and Founder of the Grata Fund. She was previously the Director of Legal and Governance at GetUp and before that a lawyer at Clayton Utz, where she worked pro bono with Aboriginal communities in the East Kimberley to secure compensation for stolen wages. Isabelle has served as a board member for the Immigration Advice and Rights Centre and is a former Chair of the Grata Fund. In 2015, Isabelle was nominated for a Walkley Award for coverage of Indigenous Affairs and in 2016 awarded a Churchill Fellowship to investigate impact litigation.
Jonathon Hunyor
Jonathon Hunyor is the CEO of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre. Previous roles include Principal Legal Officer at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency in Darwin, Director of Legal Services at the Australian Human Rights Commission, and lawyer at the Central Land Council in Alice Springs and the NT Legal Aid Commission in Darwin. Jonathon is a University Fellow at Charles Darwin University, has taught discrimination law at the University of NSW and has published widely in academic and professional journals.
