Children as young as 10 are sent to prison in Australia.
PIAC is coordinating the NSW arm of a national campaign to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14, to end the harmful detention of young children.
The campaign is building momentum across Australia. The ACT and NT Governments have both committed to raising the age. A Victorian Parliamentary inquiry has recommended the reform.
To achieve this major reform in NSW we need $250,000 p.a. for three years to build a broader and deeper coalition, engage an experienced Campaign Director and run a persuasive public campaign that inspires the people of NSW to call for change. Learn more.
