Transitional justice in Sri Lanka: meeting with Minister for National Co existence

Jonathon Hunyor and Daniela Gavshon met with the Hononourable Mano Ganesan, Minister for National Co existence, Dialogue and Official Languages at the Australian Human Rights Commission.

The Sri Lankan delegation included, Mr. Ranjith Uyangoda, Secretary to the Ministry of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, Mr. Kalinga Chandana Arunadewa Silva, Chairman/National Institute of Language Education and Training, Mrs. Priyani Vinishiya Gunaratna Perera, Private Secretary to the Hon. Minister, Mr. Lal Wickrematunge, Consul-General of Sri Lanka to Sydney; and Ms Pramuditha Manusinghe, Consul.

Together they discussed the importance of a robust, credible and transparent transitional justice process. Among other important contributions, an effective transitional justice process can help build confidence and trust in the Government for people both in Sri Lanka and in the diaspora.
