Dave from StreetCare nominated for Zest award

Dave Jeffery from PIAC’s consumer advisory committee on homelessness, StreetCare, has recently been recognised for his volunteer work and advocacy for homeless people in Western Sydney, receiving a nomination for an award in the ‘Outstanding Community Leader’ category of the 2016 Zest awards.

The ZEST Awards showcase the great work of the community sector across the Western Sydney region, promoting a positive image of the greater west by highlighting the many individuals and groups that help to build a strong and resilient community.

Dave Jefferey is a longstanding and committed volunteer and advocate for homeless people in Western Sydney. For over five years, up until 2014, he was a committed volunteer with Parramatta Mission and since 2011 has been part of StreetCare, actively participating in many advocacy and consumer education projects. Dave is concerned with the need for extra services in the western suburbs, particularly specialist services for homeless people with mental illness.
