PIAC has been re-appointed to the Australian Energy Regulator’s (AER’s) Consumer Consultative Group (CCG). PIAC joins organisations including the Council of Small Business, UnitingCare Australia, and the Consumer Action Law Centre on the CCG.
Membership provides PIAC with a unique opportunity to inform the AER about energy issues that impact upon consumers.
‘The CCG is a key way in which the AER finds out about the energy issues affecting consumers and small businesses,’ said Oliver Derum, Senior Policy Officer in PIAC’s Energy + Water Consumer Advocacy Program.
‘Being part of the CCG gives PIAC the chance to highlight pressing issues directly to senior members of the AER staff.
‘This has the potential to get a resolution or response from the regulator more quickly.
‘PIAC invests significant time and effort into its involvement with this and other consumer consultation groups, and these efforts allow the interests of residential consumers to be heard.’
