UNHRC passes Sri Lanka Resolution

The UN Human Rights Council has voted in favour of the resolution promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka.

PIAC CEO Edward Santow and Senior Policy Officer Daniela Gavson were present for the vote. The final count was 23 votes yes; 12 votes no; 12 abstentions.

Yesterday Ms Gavshon addressed the Council on behalf of PIAC.

This follows the release of PIAC’s report Island of Impunity? Investigation into international crimes in the final stages of the Sri Lankan Civil War, in February. It was the culmination of several years of work by PIAC’s International Crimes Evidence Project.
