Court finds police detaining youth illegally

PETER LLOYD: The New South Wales Supreme Court has found hundreds of young people have been illegally held in custody.

It’s been blamed on a glitch in a police database that wasn’t being updated with changes to bail conditions.

Police say the problems have been fixed, but today’s judgement opens the door to compensation.

Tom Nightingale reports.
