PIAC has produced a fact sheet full of tips for new electricity account holders including information about choosing a contract, comparing offers and energy concessions.
Electricity can be very complicated, particularly if you’re paying the bill for the first time. PIAC’s Energy and Water Consumers Advocacy Program has developed this resource to help new renters and people in share houses.
The fact sheet includes useful tips about sharing bills and the importance of putting the account in someone else’s name if you move out, as well as contact details for free, independent dispute resolution services.
The fact sheet also explains how to arrange a payment plan if you are having trouble paying your bill. You can find other information about help with energy and water bills here.
