“I didn’t really think of myself as homeless” says Veronica …

‘A whole bunch of stuff meant that I couldn’t live at home,’ says StreetCare member, Veronica.

‘I lived in refuges, friends’ houses, and I just moved around quite a bit. Eventually I got a place on the rental market. We were paying $170 a week, and that was the cheapest thing we’d ever seen…’

Listen to Veronica tell her story, posted on the Something In Common website and recorded as part of a digital project called In Their Words.

In Their Words is an initiative from the Homeless Persons’ Legal Service and its consumer advisory group, StreetCare.
