In January 2012, the NSW Department of Finance and Services released a discussion paper, Review of NSW Government Procurement (the discussion paper). In response to the discussion paper, PIAC’s submission called on the NSW Government to adopt a model that promotes the usage of pro-bono as part of their legal procurement processes. This submission provides an overview of the Victorian Government’s Legal Services Panel Arrangement Scheme and the Commonwealth Legal Services Direction Scheme, their impact on promoting a commitment to pro-bono and how similar schemes could be implemented in NSW.
