Facebook page for unlawful detention class action

Looking for more details about the class action launched on behalf of young people unlawfully detained on wrong bail information?

PIAC and law firm Maurice Blackburn have established a telephone hotline and a Facebook page where people can register their interest in joining the action.

‘Have you been locked up on the wrong bail information?’, the Facebook page asks.

‘Young people in NSW are suffering ongoing and systemic injustice.

‘The NSW Police are arresting and detaining young people unlawfully. This is because police are relying on incorrect bail information.

‘You should register for this legal action if you live in NSW and have been locked up by the NSW Police for breach of bail conditions that were not current at the time; and the alleged breach of bail related to offences heard in the Children’s Court of NSW’.

Young people who have been unlawfully detained because of wrong bail information and who wish to join this class action can register online or call (02) 8898 6517.
