Diary note: EWCAP conference on 27 June 2011

The Public Interest Advocacy Centre’s Energy + Water Consumers’ Advocacy Program (EWCAP) will hold its biennial conference on 27 June 2011 in the Sydney CBD.

The conference, entitled Competition and Consumers, will focus on developing an understanding of how varying levels of competition in energy markets contribute to a range of outcomes for consumers.

Hear from experienced consumer advocates on issues such as marketing, price and consumer protections. The day will end with an interactive session exploring what a truly competitive energy market could look like.

Keynote Speaker: Professor Alan Fels, Former Chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Confirmed Panel Members include : 

  • Clare Petre, Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW
  • Catriona Lowe, CEO of Consumer Action Law Centre (Victoria).

Lou Schetzer of EWCAP will present new research on consumers’ experiences of electricity market competition in five NSW rural and regional areas.
