Focus on children in detention

Young people who have been detained unlawfully or arrested on out-of-date information are the focus of the Children in Detention Advocacy Project (CIDnAP).

CIDnAP is a joint project between PIAC, the Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) NSW and Legal Aid NSW. It conducts litigation, policy work and advocacy relating to the wrongful arrest or detention of young people in NSW.

This project is again open for referrals from or on behalf of young people who have been detained unlawfully, arrested on out-of-date information, or who have been subject to excessive force.

CIDnAP is currently running several cases, and a few have settled with positive results.

To refer a matter to the project, please contact Katrina Ironside at PILCH.

A flyer promoting CIDnAP is attached and available for download.
