
PIAC invites individuals who want to become effective advocates to enrol in Work the System – an introduction to advocacy.
This nationally recognised one-day training course will help you understand how ‘the system’ works and how you can participate in and influence decision-making at all levels of government.
The course helps both individuals and communities develop the knowledge and skills to be effective advocates. There are no prerequisites for attending this training.
Work the System provides participants with the skills to ensure the rights and needs of consumers are maintained within the broader rights and needs of the general community. On completion of this training you will be able to:
- Obtain and analyse information about the needs of clients and issues of concern.
- Work with clients, communities and stakeholders to address identified needs.
- Advocate for client issues within formal decision-making structures.
- Represent the interests of the community in government decision-making forums.
