Submission to the review of the New South Wales Life Support Rebate Alternative formats available on request to PIAC - Contact PIAC
The Department of Water and Energy (DWE) recently announced a review into the NSW Government’s Pensioner Energy Rebate and Life Support Rebate, recommending small changes to the rebate schemes. PIAC’s submission to the review generally supported these recommendations. However, PIAC took this opportunity to advocate that the pensioner rebate be increased and extended to Commonwealth Health Care Card holders. PIAC also recommended a new concession scheme be introduced to provide a rebate for energy consumers who have non-life threatening medical conditions that require the intensive use of electrical appliances to enable a basic standard of living.
