The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care released a draft National Patient Charter of Rights in January 2008. This submission contains PIAC’s comment and feedback on the draft Charter. PIAC is of the opinion that while the draft Charter contains some important principles, the Charter lacks substance, particularly in relation to a patient’s right to compensation if injured during the delivery of health care.
