The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has recommended that customers of a failed electricity retailer who are transferred to a Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) should pay the RoLR a fee of $35. In PIAC’s submission to IPART, PIAC argued that a fee should not be applied because it is ineffective and inequitable. As an alternative, PIAC recommended that an industry wide RoLR fund should be implemented in order for RoLRs to recover costs.
