Homeless people have a high incidence of drug, alcohol and mental health problems. Because they live in public spaces they are also vulnerable to crimes of violence inflicted by intoxicated people. City of Sydney’s Draft Drug and Alcohol Strategy 2007-2010 aims to address the problems of drug and alcohol use in the City of Sydney LGA. HPLS calls on the City to include the welfare of homeless people when developing policy and undertaking actions on drug and alcohol issues.
