PIAC’s submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Public Administration – the Human Services (Enhanced Service Delivery) Bill 2007 – calls for the Senate to reject the Bill on the basis that the proposal is too unclear and there is too much being left to either later legislation or executive decision making. PIAC identifies serious privacy protection and identity security concerns with the Bill. Further, PIAC identifies that this Bill has the very real potential to significantly change the relationship between government and the people and must, as a result, be treated with due caution.
