Australia 2020: Submissions for the Australia 2020 Summit

PIAC's submission to the Federal Government's Australia 2020 Summit provides input to most of the ten focus areas of the Summit. Key issues raised include:

• enhancing transparency of government processes and engagement with the community,
• protection of rights and compliance with and strengthening of Australia's international human rights obligations,
• improvements to consumer input to health systems and enhancing health privacy,
• improvement to Indigenous health outcomes and reparation for wrongs experienced by Indigenous Australians,
• commitment to multilateral approaches to international relations,
• strengthening access to government information through the freedom of information regime,
• recognising and strengthening the third sector in its role in public policy development and advocacy,
• implementing effective responses to homelessness and strengthening measures that balance work and family life, and
• improviing opportunities for consumer input to energy and water market developments.
